Purpose of the RSG

· Develop strategies specific to their region to improve education for gifted and talented students:
· Become familiar with the GATE website and associated smart tools, and online community
· Align approaches to GATE in schools with Ka Hikitia, the Pasifika Education Plan, NCEA, National Standards and areas of government priority
· Grow coherence and coordination of approaches between schools and:
Professional Learning and Development providers , Ministry regional education and performance groups (EPGs), GAT stakeholder providers , Local industry and businesses
· Explore ways of disseminating and sustaining best practice within the region, including regional symposia and online communities
· Identify and support potential schools which may take a regional cluster leadership role
· Contribute to and attend the National GATE hui

Collaborative service delivery across numerous providers that provides a continuum of support (driving whole school capability)






Goal:
SHARE ‘effective gifted teaching and learning practices and approaches’ within and across schools. This could include current research, ideas on ‘next steps’, transiting of students, student mentoring models, etc.....
Share information through
  • Teachers local network groups,
  • SAGE association
  • principal association and AP/DP groups,
  • email communication to targeted personnel,
  • in the TKI gifted forum, and
through specialist curriculum associations i.e. Mathematics, English, Social Sciences, Digital Technologies, etc...

Goal:
CONNECT and develop a database of external school experts, teacher experts and organisations that may be able to support schools gifted and talented programmes.
The development of a regional:
  • Database of experts (those with appropriate credential. This could include, work experience, qualifications, proven track record). List to be developed further with RSG members
This work could support and be located on the ‘service providers’ list currently on the TKI gifted website





Goal:
COMMUNICATE professional development opportunities AND key events to schools through:
Share information through
